When it comes to skincare, I love trying new things but my skin can be sensitive so I have to be careful when using new products. I have started to notice a pattern for what works for me and what doesn’t though, so that definitely helps me avoid a lot of bad skin moments. I love anything that brightens skin and helps with anti-aging and DMAE is one of my favorite ingredients. That’s why I was so excited to try the Jan Marini C-Esta Face Serum. This serum is packed with antioxidants, Vitamin C, and DMAE and works to firm, lift, and tighten skin. Sounds like a winner to me!
I have to admit, I love clothes. My closet and dresser are full but every now and then (usually as the seasons change) I start to feel like I have nothing to wear. It’s amazing how just a few new pieces can liven up my wardrobe and make me excited to wear my clothes again. Sometimes I feel like adding some bright colors or a variety of different pieces but lately I’ve been all about cozy basics. I’ve been loving black and white, bold stripes, and classic pieces with interesting details. Since I’ve been drawn to trendier pieces that I might not wear forever, I don’t want to spend too much money on them. Luckily, I’ve found quite a few trendy, updated basics at SheIn, which fits my budget perfectly and allows me to pick up more than a handful of new items for my summer basics refresh.
I have to admit, I’ve never been a fan of dry shampoo. I love the idea (who wouldn’t want to extend their hairstyle?) but I’ve never found one that I liked. They always seem to have an overbearing, artificial scent and for a product that’s supposed to make my hair look cleaner, I’ve always found it to be the opposite. I was a bit hesitant to try the HASK Dry Shampoo but I’ve had so much luck with HASK’s hair products in the past that I decided to try it. I’m so happy I did because this has completely changed my opinion of dry shampoos.
I love fun prints, especially brighter-colored prints for summer. I really like the way prints can take a simple piece and make it much more interesting and dynamic. This palm print wrap skirt is the perfect example. A wrap skirt is a classic, timeless shape but the midi length and palm frond print makes this one perfect for strolling around on summer evenings. I love the longer length and the print is so fun- it makes me wish I was on an island somewhere, walking along the beach!
When it comes to fashion, there are definitely certain colors that I gravitate to over and over again (black and pink immediately come to mind). One color I typically hate wearing though is navy. It’s just so boring and plain and I hate how it feels like it’s draining my energy throughout the day. Surprisingly, I was instantly drawn to this dress on the rack. I think it’s the print- it breaks up the dark color and adds a little interest to the dress. When I received this navy and white striped blazer, I had to pair it with this printed dress. I love the pattern play and the stripes and print add enough interest to make even the dullest color fun to wear.
I used a lot of different beauty products in April. I played around with several of my older eyeshadow palettes and I’m still trying to finish a bunch of partly used foundations. Despite that, I still ended up with three products that really stood out over the course of the month. Two were new to me and one was an older product I love in a brand new scent. My April beauty favorites ended up being the Rimmel You’re the 1 Lipstick in You’re All Mine, the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer, and the Alchemic Muse Foaming Body Scrub in Castaway.
