Shoulder details are so big right now. Everywhere I look, there is an off the shoulder dress or a top with cutout shoulders. Everything looks so cute but since the pieces are pretty trendy, it can be hard for me to spend a lot on them. Who knows if I’ll even like that off the shoulder dress in a few months? I love inexpensive fashion companies for this very reason. It’s easy to test out a trend to see how much I’ll wear it before really investing in it. I recently picked out an inexpensive off the shoulder top and cold shoulder dress to test the waters of the shoulder details trend.
By now, you probably know how much I love trying different skincare products. I have a few products that I love and use regularly but even when something is a HG item for me, I still love experimenting with new things. I love the whole process of using skincare- it’s nice to take a few minutes out of every day to feel like I’m doing something good for my skin. And the process of applying different masks, serums, and moisturizers is very relaxing for me. So, as you can expect, I was so excited to try the new Jan Marini Hyla3D HA Activating Complex.
I have mixed feelings about subscription boxes. I love the idea of trying new products and it’s so fun to get a surprise package in the mail every month but I feel like with most boxes I end up wishing I had just spent the money on something I actually wanted instead. Play! by Sephora is a little different though. When it was first announced I added myself to the waitlist but was never able to get off of it until now. I buy most of my makeup from Sephora and I love their deluxe samples and promo codes so I figured I’d be pretty happy with whatever I got in my box. For $10 a month (plus a little tax if you live in a state with a Sephora store), you get five deluxe samples and a fragrance sample, all in a cute little makeup bag. And the $10 gives you Beauty Insider points and counts towards your dollars spent each year, meaning it’s easier to become a VIB or VIB Rouge. The Play! by Sephora April box was my first order, and I was so excited to see what was inside.
I definitely experienced a range of weather when I visited Stacie in Nashville a couple of weeks ago. There were a couple of what I would consider normal spring days, a couple of really warm (90 degrees or so) days and then a big storm rolled in and we were back to our winter coats. When the weather is really finicky like that I like to rely on light spring layers. We did a lot of exploring while I was there and it was easy to throw on a few layers in the morning and remove them if the day warmed up. One of my favorite things we did was visit Nashville’s Bicentennial Mall, where we ran into all of these pretty trees!
Highlighters are one of those products that I don’t use every day but when I do I notice a big difference in my look. I tend to skip it when I run out of time but I love how a few carefully placed swipes of highlighter can add such a pretty glow. I really like to mix liquid highlighters into my foundation for a lit-from-within glow but when I want a more noticeable highlight, I always go for powders. I recently picked up the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Highlighter in Stunner as part of a Sephora promo and I’m so glad I did. It’s definitely a little flashier than most of the highlighters I’ve used but I’m having a lot of fun with it.
I just got back from visiting Stacie in Nashville and we had so much fun! I was there for a week and our days were jam-packed but it still feels like I need to go back soon because there were so many other things we didn’t get to do! Nashville is pretty easy to visit because it’s so small so it’s super easy to get around. I swear, every time we went anywhere it only took about 15 minutes. We circled the city a few times each day and ate a ridiculous amount of food. I also loved looking at all of the colorful murals around the city and I couldn’t resist using them to showcase some of my new clothes from thredUP, an online consignment shop. You’ll hear a lot more about my trip over the next few weeks, so keep checking back!
