Wow! It seems like all I’ve done these past two months is travel – from moving across the country, to work trips, and vacation trips I’ve been home in Nashville less than I’ve been away! Yes, that’s right I can officially call Nashville home and I couldn’t be more excited!! It’s still surreal to be able to say that – but I’m definitely happy to be here and looking forward to exploring the city more!
A few weeks ago I decided to attempt making donuts for the first time for my roommate’s birthday. Learning to make donuts had been on my “To Bake” list for awhile but I never seemed to have the right occasion. While I was browsing potential treats to make for my roommate’s birthday I found this amazing looking recipe by Joy the Baker for Chocolate Peanut Butter Donuts- chocolate mini donuts with peanut butter frosting. Once I read the recipe I knew I had to make these. I was on Amazon almost immediately ordering a mini donut pan!
I have exciting news to finally share – I’m moving to Nashville in August!! I’m beyond excited for this adventure! Obviously, I’m sad to be leaving Los Angeles and all my friends here (that have really become family) but I think this move is really going to be great for me. I have visited Nashville a few times with work and have always had a fabulous time – which is really what sparked my decision to move. I’m looking forward to exploring the city, eating ALL the southern food, and listening to some great live music.
After living in LA for four years, I finally made it to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. I’m totally a sucker for chicken and waffles so I’ve always wanted to try the LA original. I even drove past it everyday for a year on my way to work! When N heard I still haven’t been we made plans to go over the weekend. We decided on Sunday night hoping the line wouldn’t be too crazy. It happened to rain all day but luckily stopped by the time we got there which I think helped make the line shorter. There’s always a line out the front door so I was prepared for a long wait but we actually ended up waiting only about 20 minutes.
The restaurant was packed inside and smelled delicious from all the waffles. The menu actually has quite a few different options but ultimately I settled on a classic: one waffle witha fried chicken thigh. I also ordered a side of Mac and Cheese because I had heard really good things about it. The Mac and cheese was almost more expensive than my chicken and waffle! We actually ended up waiting quite a bit of time before being able to place our order – our waitress seemed to be very busy with her multiple tables but once we ordered it took less than 10 minutes for our food to come out!
The other week the roommate invited me along with a few friends to go to Trivia Night at Pitfire Pizza. It sounded like a lot of fun so I was totally in to go despite my lack of trivia knowledge. I’m just awful at remembering things about pop culture or tv shows and don’t even get me started with trying to remember movie quotes! I rarely watch a movie more than once unless I really love it so movie quotes have never been something I can remember! I thought it would still be fun to go and hang out with friends and it turned out to be a lot of fun.
We got there in time to order food and drinks before the actual trivia started. The roommate and I split the The Burrata Pizza which had burrata cheese, caramelized onions, hazelnuts, and arugula. The pizza came out pretty quick and was the perfect size to split. I really liked the burrata cheese and hazelnuts but wasn’t a big fan of the arugula. I just cant get behind having any type of lettuce on a pizza.
Hey everyone! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve been on the blog (shout out to Molly for being a rockstar) but I’m looking forward to being back and posting more regularly. I had a crazy May and June at work which kept me away from the blog but I had a 4 day weekend for the holiday that did wonders for me! Now that I’m refreshed I’m looking forward to an awesome July in LA, including conquering my LA bucket list and preparing for some exciting events coming up in August!
Over the Holiday weekend I was actually able to cross two things off my LA bucket list: 1. Seeing a show at the Hollywood Bowl and 2. Hiking Runyon Canyon. Somehow I’ve lived in LA for almost four years and hadn’t done either of those things!
Friday night I went to the Hollywood Bowl for their annual 4th of July Spectacular featuring Smokey Robinson and a pretty cool fireworks display. I went with the roommate and a few friends for the concert. We all brought snacks and food to picnic before the show which was a lot of fun. I still can’t believe it took me this long to go!
