I have mixed feelings about subscription boxes. I love the idea of trying new products and it’s so fun to get a surprise package in the mail every month but I feel like with most boxes I end up wishing I had just spent the money on something I actually wanted instead. Play! by Sephora is a little different though. When it was first announced I added myself to the waitlist but was never able to get off of it until now. I buy most of my makeup from Sephora and I love their deluxe samples and promo codes so I figured I’d be pretty happy with whatever I got in my box. For $10 a month (plus a little tax if you live in a state with a Sephora store), you get five deluxe samples and a fragrance sample, all in a cute little makeup bag. And the $10 gives you Beauty Insider points and counts towards your dollars spent each year, meaning it’s easier to become a VIB or VIB Rouge. The Play! by Sephora April box was my first order, and I was so excited to see what was inside.
Earlier this year, I was selected to receive a RAN Bonus Box from Rakuten Affiliate Network. It was full of great products and I loved being able to work with and discover new brands. When I was chosen to be part of the fall RAN Bonus Box, I was so excited. The box arrived jam-packed with so many wonderful goodies, many from brands I already know and love as well as a few new ones to try. I love the idea behind these boxes, they’re such a great way for brands and bloggers to connect.
A couple of months ago, I was selected to receive a RAN Bonus Box from Rakuten Affiliate Network, the company we use for our affiliate links. The box was so fun to get and I received so many amazing products and discovered a lot of great new brands. When they announced their travel-themed RAN Bonus Box, I couldn’t wait to get it. Stacie and I travel a lot and we both have some pretty big trips planned for this year. I was so excited to see what Rakuten and their partners had in store for us and I was looking forward to developing relationships with more brands. I was not disappointed when I opened my RAN Travel Box. It was packed with goodies from some amazing brands and everything was perfect for the travel theme.
I’ve recently gotten into indie bath and body products. I wrote about my first experiences trying them as part of my January Beauty Favorites post and I was so impressed that I wanted to try more. I bought quite a few Alchemic Muse products as Christmas gifts and they all looked so nice that I had to buy some for myself. Alchemic Muse is a good indie brand to start with because she keeps a lot of stock (so there’s no mad rush to buy things before someone else does) and her turn around time is so fast (I placed a few orders and they all shipped either the same day or first thing the next day). The prices are reasonable and so is her shipping- she ships in flat rate boxes so you can get a lot of items before it kicks you into the next shipping tier. I stocked up on a bunch of products that seemed too good to live without- the Cream Soap, Body Whip, and Foaming Body Scrub, and I received a few Perfume Oil samples to try. Here is my full Alchemic Muse review.
I like to rotate the perfumes I wear pretty regularly so it can take a while to use up a bottle. I used to buy the biggest sizes I could because they were generally a better deal but now I buy smaller sizes so I can try them out. If I love it and wear it all the time I can always buy another bottle. If I don’t like it as much as my other perfumes, I’m not stuck with a bottle that will take me years to finish. That’s why I really like perfume minis. They’re a great way to try a scent and the little bottles look so cute on my dresser. I’ve received a few Atelier Cologne samples and really liked them so I picked up a couple of their mini perfumes to try: Orange Sanguine, Vanille Insensee, and Rose Anonyme.
Last month, my favorite beauty products were mostly makeup. This month was a little different. I used a lot of the same makeup products over the course of the month but none of them really stood out as something I was excited about. Instead, I fell back in love with an old perfume and discovered two other products from my stash that I’d never really used much before. My April beauty favorites ended up being Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy perfume, Julep’s Lissa, and Aveda’s Hand Relief.
