I wanted to post about the Formula X The System XCEL because it has drastically changed my manicures and it’s on sale right now! I love this system and all of the Formula X polishes that I’ve tried but unfortunately Sephora is discontinuing their collaboration. The good news? Everything is on sale so it’s a great time to stock up on these wonderful products! I’ve posted about the Formula X The System before but today I’m reviewing the Formula X The System XCEL which seems about the same to me but is designed to give your polish a gel quality. I’m also going to talk about the Formula X Delete All nail polish remover, another product that has totally changed how I do my nails.
I haven’t been buying too many new beauty products so far this year but I’ve been having a lot of fun rediscovering products I already own. My March beauty favorites included a new concealer that has gotten quite a bit of use, an old favorite nail polish shade, and a lip primer that I finally figured out how to use well. I’ve been wearing a lot of soft pink and purple shades of makeup but I’ve been trying different combinations with a few different palettes so none of them have really stood out so far. I’ve also been wearing a lot of pink blushes and lip colors and tring some new skincare products. But when it came down to it, these three products really stood out in March. My 2016 March beauty favorites were the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, Essie’s Lovie Dovie Nail Polish, and the Stila Lush Lips Water Plumping Primer.
I haven’t done a mani post lately so I thought I would show you guys a few of my latest looks. During winter I usually switch between dark berries and super glittery looks but this winter has been a little different. It seems like it’s been warmer than usual (although it’s still a little too cold for me) so I haven’t really been feeling dark, vampy colors. Instead, I’ve been loving bright pinks like Julep Caitlin in between my glittery manis.
My November beauty favorites signify a pretty significant change to my routine from previous months. Now that the weather is finally getting cooler, my beauty routine has changed quite a bit. Unlike the warmer months where I was all about playing around with new makeup shades, right now I’m focusing on keeping my look simple. I’m all about berry shades for makeup and nails and I’ve been craving scents that smell warmer and a little spicy. I’ve also been using everything I can to combat hair static caused by heaters and sweaters. My November beauty favorites were Essie’s Recessionista, Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, and Josie Maran’s Argan Oil.
Last year my Halloween mani consisted of several shimmer polishes in fall shades: orange, red, and gold. This year, I went with a different route. I’m still not into black polish but orange seemed too predictable this time. I found a fun black glitter topper that looked more glamorous than soul-sucking and decided to pair it with a fun sparkly polish for a non-traditional Halloween look. I ended up using Julep Beatrix and Mary and I love the way my mani turned out.
The Julep September 2015 Kisses, London Collection contained lots of cool-toned polishes with sparkly finishes and seven new lipstick shades. In the past, most of Julep’s fall collections consisted of dark, moody polishes in typical fall colors so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Since I can customize my Julep boxes, I ended up choosing one polish from this month’s collection, one from last month’s collection, and an older “back from the vault” shade. Every box also included a bonus polish in a new color. For my Julep September 2015 Maven Box I received Julep, Madelynn, Delores, and Esmeralda.
