After lots of shimmer, glitter, and bright lips in December, I was in need of a makeup refresh. My beauty look in January was all about neutrals and easy-to-apply products. I no longer wanted to spend a lot of time getting my look just right, instead I wanted something I could throw on in a few minutes before running out the door (while still looking good, of course!). There were three products that I kept reaching for over and over again because they always worked with whatever I was wearing and lasted all day long. My January beauty favorites were the Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays, the Blinc Mascara Amplified, and the Catrice Illuminating Blush in Kiss Me Ken 030.
The Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays is a new eye palette that contains six shadows with a unique formulation and a setting powder. These “clay” shadows are a mix between a cream and a powder and they have almost a wet, spongy feel to them. They are designed to be super pigmented and the included setting powder keeps them from wearing off or smudging throughout the day. This palette contains three matte and three metallic shades, all with intense color payoff. The neutral shades can be mixed and matched to create tons of different looks ranging from smudged, smoky eyes to sharp, graphic looks.
December is always such a fun month makeup-wise. It’s full of holidays and parties and lots of time off to play around and experiment. I usually use a lot of different beauty products and go through lots of glitter and red lipsticks. Last month, there were three products that I kept reaching for again and again even as I changed my look over and over. My three December beauty favorites were the Topshop Smoky Eye Palette in Enigma, the It’s Skin Prestige Creme D’Escargot BB Cream, and the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Yu.
I wanted to post about the Formula X The System XCEL because it has drastically changed my manicures and it’s on sale right now! I love this system and all of the Formula X polishes that I’ve tried but unfortunately Sephora is discontinuing their collaboration. The good news? Everything is on sale so it’s a great time to stock up on these wonderful products! I’ve posted about the Formula X The System before but today I’m reviewing the Formula X The System XCEL which seems about the same to me but is designed to give your polish a gel quality. I’m also going to talk about the Formula X Delete All nail polish remover, another product that has totally changed how I do my nails.
ColourPop is one of those brands that has really taken off in the past couple of years. They have so many different colors and formulas and at $5 each, it’s easy to try out some new trends without worrying if you’re spending too much money on a color you won’t like. They focus on providing excellent formulas at a really low price point and the reviews all seem to be favorable. A friend of mine has been raving about ColourPop for a while now, kind of like how everyone else who has ever tried their products has been. I kept putting off buying anything until finally she got frustrated and gifted me a few items to try. In her attempt to make me a fan, she gave me three different shades of the ColourPop Super Shock Shadow: Party Time, Nillionaire, and Girl Crush.
When I think of Evian Facial Spray, I imagine models on a tropical beach lightly misting their faces while a breeze gently blows their hair around. It seems so fancy- natural spring water is bottled at the source in the French Alps. It’s tested 300 times a day to ensure it’s purity and that it has a neutral pH of 7.2 to properly hydrate and refresh skin. It uses a unique fine micro-droplet mist to dispense the spray. The Evian Facial Spray is hypoallergenic and is perfect for adding hydration or refreshing makeup throughout the day.
