Isn’t it funny how sometimes our outfits can go in stages? Sure, we all have certain pieces that we gravitate towards and trends that we like to follow, but don’t you sometimes just find yourself reaching for the same thing over and over again, even though your closet is full of other clothes? I know I definitely experience that and this black and white striped tunic is my latest obsession.
Since New Year’s Eve is tomorrow, I wanted to share some outfit inspiration for any parties you may be attending. New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite holidays to dress for because it requires so many sequins, crystals, and glitter- you can never have too much! It is a bit tricky to dress for though since cooler weather calls for lots of layers. I usually like to pick one statement piece and then wear dark, neutral layering pieces with it. This outfit is the perfect example. I get plenty of New Year’s Eve sparkle with my sequined top and then keep it simple with black jeans and a black jacket. The layers help me stay warm and the dark colors also make the silver sequins really pop!
There are certain details I always like for my holiday looks. I like lots of sparkle (obviously) and a bright lip is always fun for going out. I love lace and I really like it paired with leather to toughen it up a bit. Layers are super important for me because I’m always cold and a great pair of boots or booties can instantly make a holiday outfit look finished. This holiday outfit is one of my favorites because it combines all of those details into one look without being too overdone.
I have a confession to make. A few weeks ago I was at work and realized I was wearing two different shoes! I have a pile of flats that I just grab from each morning and I picked two different styles that day. And they weren’t even close, one was gray suede and one was black leather. Talk about embarrassing. Luckily, no one noticed and I was able to pop over to Target to get some matching shoes. I found these quilted black flats with ankle straps and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since, so I guess it all worked out in the end (but now I’m much more aware of what shoes I leave the house in!). I’ve been wearing them all the time and a few days ago I thought they would look great with the sequins and stripes on this dress, dark jeans, and a black blazer for a casual, put-together look.
My cold weather wardrobe is made up of mostly monochromatic black and gray pieces, to the point that multiple people have commented on it. I love warm weather so the colder months always feel like a bit of a mourning period for me but really I’m just lazy. If I have a stack of black and gray pieces, it’s easy to grab a few and throw them on in the morning- they always match! Take this outfit for example. I wanted to wear these leather leggings and this sweater is one of my go-tos as soon as it gets a little chilly. I added a tunic for some extra layers and some bright white sneakers for a fun, sporty feel. It probably took about 15 seconds to pick everything out and I thought it looked really cute.
Earlier this year, I was selected to receive a RAN Bonus Box from Rakuten Affiliate Network. It was full of great products and I loved being able to work with and discover new brands. When I was chosen to be part of the fall RAN Bonus Box, I was so excited. The box arrived jam-packed with so many wonderful goodies, many from brands I already know and love as well as a few new ones to try. I love the idea behind these boxes, they’re such a great way for brands and bloggers to connect.
