I’m a big fan of Essie’s cream polishes, and Cute as a Button is one of my favorites. It’s a perfect mix of orange, red, and coral- an amazing summer color. I’m not big on warm-toned polishes, or reds, or even oranges for that matter, but this polish is a great mix of everything. It’s bright but not too in-your-face and the color changes slightly depending on the lighting. This is a coral polish that leans more red-orange than pink on me. Essie Cute as a Button is a color I reach for when I want something bright and cheery, but not neon. I would refer to it as an it girl’s classic nail color instead of the traditional red.
Essie polishes wear pretty well on me, and I love how pigmented they are. Essie Cute as a Button is good with two coats, but you could probably get away with one if you were careful. They do take awhile to dry completely, so I would recommend using a quick-dry topcoat (I like Essie’s Good to Go and Julep’s Freedom) unless you want sheet marks like I ended up with (even though I painted my nails hours before I went to bed). I like Essie’s smaller brush because I find it more precise, and the square bottle are easy to store. My Essie’s sometimes get a little thick over time, but I haven’t had any problems with this one. I just add a couple of drops of nail thinner to the ones that do thicken and they are perfect again. Essie Cute as a Button is $8.50 for 0.46 oz here. Essie polishes are 3-free.
