Fall Layers Two Ways

OOTD Fall LayersIt’s pretty hard to do fall fashion in Phoenix. All the stores are carrying sweaters and tall boots and with Halloween and Thanksgiving it’s pretty easy to get into the fall spirit but the weather here just doesn’t cooperate. Sure, it’s a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings but when midday temperatures reach the mid 70s it’s nearly impossible to work tights and scarves into my wardrobe. Instead, I focus on light fall layers that work with the temperature changes and still look appropriate for the season.

ootd-fall-layers-2For this outfit I took a basic tee and fun pleated mini skirt and paired it with a cardigan and suede booties. I love the wool texture and leather waistband of this skirt- they definitely make it appropriate for fall but it’s not too warm if I wear it on its own without tights. The berry color of this cardigan is perfect for cooler weather. I know most people think of browns, oranges, and reds for fall but I love jewel tones and darker colors.

ootd-fall-layers-3I also like to layer my jewelry for fall. The summer can get so hot here it’s hard to wear any jewelry so I tend to go overboard as soon as it cools down! I was recently sent these arrowhead necklaces from Colby June and I love them. Her pieces are perfect for layering (I’ve featured the Bands and Twig Ring Set several times before) and they look so pretty and delicate when worn alone. These necklaces are part of her Bone Collection and they seriously go with everything, I’ve been wearing the Falling Arrowhead Choker every day since I got it!

ootd-fall-layers-4I like how easy it is to remove the cardigan when it gets too warm and still look like I’m ready for fall with all the small details!

img_1251Nashville’s been having a surprisingly warm fall this year – we’ve been lucky to have a few cold nights where I’ve finally been able to break out my favorite jackets! One of my favorites to wear is this simple black leather jacket. Adding this jacket plus some dainty necklaces really amps up a jeans and t-shirt outfit. Anyone that knows me, knows that jeans and a t-shirt are my go-to so I love when I find fun accessories to match.

img_1252I paired this simple outfit with a sterling silver compass necklace and the Colby June Arrowhead Choker. Both necklaces are dainty enough to wear together and both look awesome on their own. I really like the simplicity of the Arrowhead Choker combined with the attention to detail – the arrowhead is textured and has two slightly larger links to keep the charm in place, so no need to worry about the charm ending up by the clasp!

img_1248I’m really loving the choker length of this necklace as well. I don’t typically wear chokers but it makes this necklace the perfect size for layering and even looks great on its own. I’ve worn this necklace numerous times already and get compliments every time!

If you’re interested in picking up your own Colby June pieces, they’re going to be running some awesome Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales!
