Similar to my January favorites, my February beauty favorites were less about color and more about maintenance. February was pretty warm for us but my skin and hair is still feeling the effects of winter (and my hair had a mini flip out after I tried some new products that left it super dry). I ended up spending most of the month trying to get my hair back to its normal healthy state and fighting winter’s drying effects on my skin and hair. My February beauty favorites ended up being the Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics, the HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Hair Oil, and the Julep Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub.
I have a super hard time finding hair ties that I like. My hair is really thick but fine so it’s hard to find hair ties that are the right size and strong enough to hold my hair but with a texture that keeps it from slipping out. A friend recently got me this set of Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics. I have to admit, when I first saw them, I thought there was no way they were going to work. They look really small and thin and I just knew they would break the first time I tried to use them. Fortunately, I was completely wrong. I don’t know what kind of magic is in these elastics, but they stretch like crazy yet remain strong and don’t break. When I take them out of my hair they are stretched out but immediately return to their normal shape. The rubber texture keeps my hair from slipping out and just like their name suggests, they are snag free. The only hard part is finding them in my bag, they’re so small that they are easy to lose.
I recently reviewed the HASK Coconut Oil Collection and I have been loving it so much. It makes my hair so soft and it seriously smells amazing, like I’m on a tropical beach somewhere. I’ve been using the Nourishing Shine Hair Oil every day to hydrate the ends of my hair and smooth flyaways. This gets rid of any static and gives my hair just the right amount of shine. It also makes my hair feels healthier and stronger. I only need a little bit each day but I’ve been using it so much that I can tell it won’t last very long!
I’ve had this Julep Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub for a while but I don’t use it very often because I’m lazy. I’ve been using it quite a bit lately though to help moisturize my lips and get rid of the dead skin cells. This is a unique sugar scrub because it contains oils to moisturize the lips in addition to the exfoliants. The sugar granules scrub off dead cells while jojoba and grapeseed oils along with shea butter moisturize my lips. I scrub this on then gently wipe it off leaving behind a balm on my lips. This smells good enough to eat and I love the fancy gold art deco inspired packaging. Julep no longer makes this lip scrub but they have a newer one here (although it’s not nearly as pretty).
My February beauty favorites may not be very colorful but they are all products that I love. The Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics do a great job at holding up all of my hair and I’m amazed at their stretching and shrinking properties. The HASK Nourishing Shine Hair Oil smells so good and I love how soft and shiny it makes my hair feel. Plus, it keeps it healthy and hydrated. The Julep Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub is an oldie but a goodie and the luxe packaging makes me feels so fancy.
