French Connection

ootd_french_connection3A couple of weeks ago, I was asked if I would like to feature some of French Connection’s new pieces on our site. I’m actually a fan of the brand’s fun, easy pieces so of course I jumped at the chance! The problem? How to decide what to get! I love French Connection’s kind-of-dressy-with-an-easy-fit pieces and their coats are to die for. They make so many classic clothes with fun twists and it’s super easy to see how everything would fit with the rest of the clothes in my closet. After spending a few days looking at everything on their website, I finally narrowed it down to the Railroad Stars Dress, the Polly Raw Edge Top, and the Leather Tube Necklace.

ootd_french_connectionI actually have a top made with almost the exact same material as the Railroad Stars Dress and I love it so naturally I had to have it in dress form. This black and white striped dress has tiny sequins over the black stripes that add a nice amount of sparkle.

ootd_french_connection5I love swing dresses and what’s better than a t-shirt-style swing dress with stripes and sequins? Ok, that actually sounds like it could go horribly wrong but French Connection somehow makes it work. The zipper on the back adds a little edginess to this graphic dress.

ootd_french_connection1I wore this with lots of black and silver accessories but it would also be fun with bright colors (how amazing would this look with a hot pink jacket or bright red shoes?).

ootd_french_connection2This dress is super comfortable and I love how the sequins make it a little dressier. The swing shape makes this easy to wear and I love the classic look of the stripes.

ootd_french_connection7I also really like how versatile this dress is. It’s perfect for a Phoenix fall day with a hat and suede flats but it would also look great with a leather jacket and boots or layered over tights or jeans. I’m really glad I grabbed this dress and I can already tell it’s going to be a staple in my closet.

ootd_french_connection16French Connection actually makes several versions of their Polly Top but I went with the Raw Edge style. I have lots of different versions of black tees but I’m always looking for more. They are such a great piece that can be worn with dressier or more casual outfits and a good one makes you look instantly pulled together.

ootd_french_connection10The Polly Raw Edge Top is cut like a t-shirt but it’s made with three different fabrics to add a little dimension. The stretchy panel at the neckline and top of the sleeves is semi-sheer and panels at the bottom of the sleeves and hem are made with chiffon. This top also has a stepped hemline with the back being longer than the front.

ootd_french_connection9cThe Leather Tube Necklace is a gold chain with a strip of black leather wrapped around a gold bar. It’s a nice necklace that can be worn with all sorts of different outfits and I love the leather detail. I’ve been wearing a lot of gold jewelry lately and black is pretty much all I wear during winter so I will get plenty of use out of this necklace. Plus, I love it paired with my gold and black giraffe earrings!

french connection ootdI decided to play up the black and gold combo with lots of gold accessories and my Kate Spade gold glitter Keds. Seriously, how much fun are these? I love anything sparkly so of course I had to have these but I’m actually surprised by how wearable they are and now I wish I had them in every color! And they are sooo sparkly, they send rainbows across the sidewalk when I walk! If you’re looking for a bit of a dressier look, this outfit also works with black heels.

ootd_french_connection18I really like the looser fit of the Polly Raw Edge Top and how easy it is to dress it up or down. The different panels add an interesting touch to a basic black top and it’s really comfortable to wear. I’m also happy with the Leather Tube Necklace. The black and gold is a fun combination and the leather detailing is a great twist. I’m so happy with all of the pieces I received from French Connection and I can’t wait to wear them again! Their sizes can be a little smaller than other brands, so look at the size chart before ordering. I went up one size with the dress but ordered my normal size with the top.

I love French Connection! They used to carry the brand in Macy’s and Boston Store (our other department store,) but they don’t anymore. I think their clothes are really well made and flattering. I love that dress, especially with the zipper detail.

Their clothes are so cute and they are really well-made. I love how they take classic styles and put their own spin on them (like the zipper detail). It seems like they run a lot of great promos on their US website, so definitely check it out!
