I’m not a big fan of subscription boxes. I like surprises but I hate feeling like I should have just spent my money on something I actually wanted. I understand the appeal- you get a surprise box of products that are worth much more than you paid, but are they really worth it if you don’t like anything? That’s why I tend to stick to subscription boxes with customization. I’m a big fan of Julep (read about it here) because I can select what I want to receive but can also skip boxes I’m not interested in. The same goes for my snack box which is why I wanted to post another Graze box review.
This subscription snack box is pretty customizable- the snacks I get are still a surprise but they only come from my approved snack list (I give each snack a rating like try, like, or love, and can even trash a snack if I never want it). I can receive extra boxes at any time and can even postpone boxes (I’m going on vacation so I “snoozed” my box for a week). I’ve received several boxes so far (read my other reviews here) and I’m still really happy with my subscription. For $6.49 each box (I get one every two weeks but you can also receive them weekly), I receive four healthy and tasty snacks. Graze has recently added even more customization. I subscribe to the 4 Snack Variety Box but there’s also an 8 Snack Variety Box, a Sharing Box, a Sweet Treat Box, and a Savory Box. One of my recent boxes included Apple and Cinnamon Flapjack, Smoky Chipotle Dip, Booster Seeds, and Raspberry and Coconut Muffin.
I love Graze’s flapjacks. They are like granola bars only much softer and fresher. I love the texture and flavors, so I’m always happy to get a new variety in my box. The Apple and Cinnamon Flapjack is a rustic rolled oat flapjack with apple and cinnamon. I’m not really into apple and cinnamon flavored snacks, but this wasn’t bad. It smelled really fresh and had a strong apple cinnamon flavor. This was soft and slightly chewy and I really liked the cinnamon in it. It tasted really good but wasn’t my favorite flavor of flapjack.
My next snack was Smoky Chipotle Dip, which included smoky chipotle relish with rosemary breadsticks. It had a very strong smoky smell. The relish had a weird jelly consistency. It was tangy and tasted like barbecue sauce. The breadsticks were crunchy with a good rosemary flavor. This was a weird mix. It didn’t taste bad but it wasn’t quite for me. The breadsticks were really good and the relish had a nice flavor but the texture was awful and I couldn’t finish all of it.
The Booster Seeds are made up of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and golden flaxseeds. The sunflower seeds were crunchy with a nice sunflower flavor. The pumpkin seeds were also crunchy with a mild flavor. The golden flaxseeds were very tiny and hard. They had a very strong flavor to them. Overall, this was good as a mix for a boost of energy. The strong flaxseed flavor blended well with the milder seeds and this was a good size for a snack. Not bad, but I wouldn’t be excited about getting this in another box.
Raspberry and Coconut Muffin was my final snack in this box. It included raspberry infused cranberries, almond slivers, amaretti drops and coconut flakes. This snack smelled like raspberry muffins, with a strong raspberry and almond scent. The raspberry infused cranberries smelled like raspberries but had a slight tangy cranberry flavor. The were soft and very sweet- almost like an artificial raspberry flavor used in cough drops. The almond slivers were very thin with a good fresh almond flavor. The amaretti drops were crunchy like Nilla wafers. They had a good, slightly sweet flavor that I really liked. The coconut flakes had a pretty mild flavor but were a fun texture. I thought this was a good snack with a nice mix of textures, although I wish there were more raspberry infused cranberries and fewer almond slivers and coconut flakes. It was a fun mix and I wish I had more.
My next box contained all repeats of snacks I had gotten before (with the exception of Caramel Apple which is just a repackaging of Toffee Apple). I hadn’t received repeats before this box so it was interesting to get them all at once! My snacks were: Chili and Honey Almonds, Herby Bread Basket, Beach Bum, and Caramel Apple. I was excited to see a few snacks I had loved before, but a little disappointed to see Beach Bum so soon.
I was so happy to see Chili and Honey Almonds in my box again. These are roasted almonds with a chili and honey glaze. I was initially unsure of these but decided to try them and fell in love (see my first review of these here). These are sweet and spicy and really a great mix of flavors. I wish Graze sold these by themselves so I could always have them on hand!
Herby Bread Basket is another repeat that I was really happy to get (first review here). This snack includes mini basil breadsticks, oregano rice crackers and garlic crostini. I really like the mix of flavors and the crunchiness of this snack. This time, I’ve actually increased my rating from like to love.
Beach Bum is a snack I’ve tried before and thought was just ok. It contains pineapple, chewy banana coins and coconut flakes. I like the pineapple and chewy banana coins but the coconut flakes overwhelm this snack. Graze has so many better fruit mixes than this one.
Caramel Apple is a rebranding of the Toffee Apple snack that I reviewed here. It is sticky caramel sauce with granny smith apple slices. Although I just tried Toffee Apple not too long ago, I really liked it so I was happy to get Caramel Apple in my box.
My next Graze box review includes a mix of snacks I have tried before (Garden of England, Graze’s Popping Corn in Twist of Black Pepper, Summer Berry Flapjack) and one I haven’t (Barbecue Sub). At this point it seems like each box contains a couple of my tries and a couple of my likes/loves.
I received Garden of England in my very first Graze box (review here). It’s a fruit mix containing soft apple pieces, strawberries and blackcurrants. I like this mix but it could be better. The soft apple pieces are great and I absolutely love the mini strawberries, but the blackcurrants are a little too sour. Still, it’s a solid mix.
At this point I’ve received both flavors of Graze’s Popping Corn, and this is the second time I’ve tried Twist of Black Pepper. It’s kind of a plain popcorn with black pepper thrown in for flavor. It’s an interesting flavor that I like, but I ended up adding some kettle corn seasoning to this bag and it was much better. This popcorn is smaller than normal bags, but it is designed to be a snack for one person.
Barbecue Sub was a new snack to me, another snack I was unsure of. It includes BBQ relish with tomato breadsticks. It smelled like barbecue sauce and the relish was a little separated, it needed to be mixed together. The breadsticks were nice and crunchy with just a slight tomato flavor. The BBQ relish was slightly tangy with a sweet barbecue flavor. It was a little chunky and hard to scoop out. This was a good savory but slightly sweet snack. It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t want it all the time.
I’ve tried several of Graze’s flapjacks but Summer Berry is still one of my favorites. It is a rustic rolled oat flapjack with berry-infused cranberries. This was really soft and fresh and smelled amazing! I love the texture of these are the berry-infused cranberries are nice and sweet.
Right now I’m still loving my boxes, as you can tell by this Graze box review. I’m not as excited to see what new snacks I get and my boxes last longer than they used to, but I still like this subscription. I like having snacks to just throw in my bag and the variety of snacks I get is great. Plus, they’re good! If you want to try Graze for yourself, you can use my referral link here to get your first and fifth boxes for FREE! You can cancel at any time (even after your first free box) but you’ll probably end up loving it like I did.
