After lots of shimmer, glitter, and bright lips in December, I was in need of a makeup refresh. My beauty look in January was all about neutrals and easy-to-apply products. I no longer wanted to spend a lot of time getting my look just right, instead I wanted something I could throw on in a few minutes before running out the door (while still looking good, of course!). There were three products that I kept reaching for over and over again because they always worked with whatever I was wearing and lasted all day long. My January beauty favorites were the Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays, the Blinc Mascara Amplified, and the Catrice Illuminating Blush in Kiss Me Ken 030.
I’m obsessed with the Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays (read my complete review and get a few tutorials here). While this palette looks a lot darker and more intense than what I usually use, it’s actually super wearable. I love coming up with different looks and the clay formula stays put all day. I really like applying the shadows by stamping them on with my finger. It’s easy to smudge on a shade or two, set everything with the included setting powder, and be on my way. Seriously, if you’re looking for a new neutral palette or one that is really easy to use, buy this one, it’s amazing!
I love mascara and if I could only use one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would definitely be mascara. I think it makes such a difference and instantly makes me look more put together. I love trying different formulas and the Blinc Mascara Amplified in Black is the one I’m currently using. This is a tubing mascara which means it creates tiny tubes of product over your lashes. It’s flake-proof, smudge-proof, and water-resistant and the Amplified version adds length and volume in addition to allowing you to use multiple coats to get your desired look, which the original formula doesn’t do. I like this because it doesn’t budge throughout the day but is still super easy to remove. All you have to do is wet your lashes and lightly rub them and the tubes fall off, no soap or makeup remover required. It can be weird seeing lots of tiny “lashes” coming off in your hands but I find it oddly satisfying to pull the tubes off and love removing this at the end of the day.
The Catrice Illuminating Blush in Kiss Me Ken 030 is one of my go-to blush colors. This is a really pretty rose shade that goes with almost any look. It’s an easy color to wear and the powder applies well and lasts all day. This is actually made of two different formulas- a subtle shimmer and a light pearl. When combined, they have a slight illuminating effect that gives a fresh and healthy glow. It’s not very glittery or shiny, instead it just looks like a natural glow that blends into skin better than a matte blush.
My January Beauty Favorites included a brand new eye palette that is perfect for everyday or more dramatic eye looks, a mascara that lasts all day and is fun to remove, and a pretty blush that adds a healthy glow and matches everything. The Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays is so easy to use and I’m having fun coming up with new color combinations. The Blinc Mascara Amplified stays put until I’m ready to remove it. I reach for the Catrice Illuminating Blush whenever I’m not sure what blush color to use for a look. All three products have been the perfect detox after December’s bright colors and extreme looks, and it’s no wonder they made my list of January Beauty Favorites.
