Peplums are one of those things that I either love or hate. I usually love them on other people or on the hanger but they often hit me at weird spots. When I saw this leather peplum top with its scalloped hem and cutouts I decided to take my chances. Luckily, it worked out and I ended up with a fun top for cooler weather. I really like peplums when they’re paired with either pencil skirts for a more streamlined look or fuller skirts that really play up the volume of the peplum. When I wore this top recently, I opted for the latter with a sweater underneath to keep me warm.
I love all of the detailing on this top. The cutouts are so much fun and the scalloped trim is a great way to balance a tough leather top with feminine accents. This top was just asking to be worn with my new scalloped black flats. I love how the edges of the shoes reflect the hem of the top.
I love black and gray together and I really like pairing them with gold and berry accents like jewelry, lipstick, and nail polish. I’ve been playing around with different berry lipsticks but for berry nail polishes, I have one love: Essie’s Recessionista. It’s an older color and I’m going to be so sad when I eventually run out, it’s the perfect fall berry shade.
I thought this was a fun outfit with so many different details: leather peplum top, cutout detailing, scalloped trim, cashmere sweater, leopard print, and accordion pleating. I liked all of the different neutrals next to the berry accents and I can’t wait to come up with more ways to wear this top!
