There is nothing more classic than a little black dress. There are so many different style options out there, whether it be for going to work, going out, or something that can work for both occasions. A good black dress is probably the most versatile piece of clothing you can have. I myself own quite a few different ones and while I love a good plain black dress, I’m drawn to classic shapes with interesting details, like this Cynthia Steffe Loran Dress.

I love the classic fit and flare shape of this dress and it’s made from a heavy fabric that drapes nicely. The detail that really caught my eye was the leather harness-like trim. I love leather detailing on pretty much anything and I especially love it when used to toughen up feminine touches like this full skirt. This faux leather is super soft with a slightly pebbled texture so it’s really comfortable to wear. This dress also features sheer cutouts at the waist and neck. The sheer panels are double-layered so while they add an extra dimension to this dress, they really aren’t see through. Cynthia Steffe may have called this the Loran dress but because of the leather harness and cutouts I will be affectionately referring to this as my “Star Wars dress.”

I first spotted this dress in the middle of July but the last thing you even want to think about during a Phoenix summer is leather anything. I kept delaying my purchase until the beginning of September when I found a great sale and finally ordered this (and it’s since gone on sale for even less!).

Even with the leather trim and cutouts, the classic shape and long length make this a dress suitable for all occasions. I wear it like this with plain black pumps, a nice bag, and a chunky watch for work but it would also be easy to dress this up for other occasions, like with a statement necklace, sparkly clutch, and bright lips for going out.

I really like how this dress fits (I found it to be true-to-size) and it’s really comfortable to wear. The leather trim and sheer cutouts make it fun without being over the top. I’m so glad I finally bought it, this is such a perfect little black dress that I will be wearing for years to come.
