Maps on a Windy Day

map_dress0I’m a fan of fun prints on clothing. I think they add an interesting element to otherwise simple shapes and I love how a good print can completely transform an outfit. I especially love anything that’s a little understated and that you really need to look at to figure out. This map dress from CrOp by David Peck is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It has a pretty simple silhouette with its high neckline and banded waist but what really makes it unique is the subtle map print.

map_dress2I really like all of the little details on this map dress. The navy trim at the neck and waist is dark enough for me to pretend it’s black (I have an irrational hatred for navy) and the map print is a nice dark purple. It fits really well and the draped skirt makes it easy to wear. It even has pockets.

map_dress6I really like to wear light gray accessories with this for a softer look. I also like to layer lots of strands of pearls in different colors and play up the purple in the map dress with purple jewelry or shoes. Big sunglasses with baroque details also add to this feminine look.

map_dress9We’ve had several days in a row of overcast skies, spurts of wind, and rain storms. I usually like Arizona storms but they aren’t that conducive to blog photos! A couple of tips I learned while taking these: try to work with the wind and take tons of photos because most of them will end up as outtakes.
