I haven’t been buying too many new beauty products so far this year but I’ve been having a lot of fun rediscovering products I already own. My March beauty favorites included a new concealer that has gotten quite a bit of use, an old favorite nail polish shade, and a lip primer that I finally figured out how to use well. I’ve been wearing a lot of soft pink and purple shades of makeup but I’ve been trying different combinations with a few different palettes so none of them have really stood out so far. I’ve also been wearing a lot of pink blushes and lip colors and tring some new skincare products. But when it came down to it, these three products really stood out in March. My 2016 March beauty favorites were the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, Essie’s Lovie Dovie Nail Polish, and the Stila Lush Lips Water Plumping Primer.
I got my makeup done a few years ago and the girl used the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla. It looked so nice but I typically don’t wear much concealer so I couldn’t really justify buying it. I loved how it worked as a concealer and highlighter in one and the finish was so light and glowy- not at all cakey. I finally purchased it earlier this year. I’ve been applying it under my eyes when I haven’t gotten enough sleep and over any redness to even out my complexion. I just dab on a few spots with the applicator and then blend it with a small stippling brush. It blends easily and I haven’t had any problems with it creasing throughout the day. It’s amazing how just a little bit of product can really make me look more awake!
Essie’s Lovie Dovie is one of the first Essie polishes I purchased. It’s a great medium pink crème but unfortunately they no longer make this color. I haven’t been using it much lately because I want it to last but I wore it a few times during March. The small brush makes it a little difficult to apply but the color is so pretty and I only need two coats to get a perfect finish. This is the pink crème polish that I hold all other pinks to, nothing else is quite as nice!
The Stila Lush Lips Water Plumping Primer was a product that I purchased on a whim one day. I wear a lot of lipsticks so I figured a lip primer would be a staple in my makeup routine. I wasn’t too impressed the first few times I used it so it ended up collecting dust in my makeup drawer. I pulled it out again at the beginning of the month and I’m so happy that I did! This primer is definitely an essential for me now, it works so well with my light, moisturizing lipsticks (it’s perfect for formulas like YSL’s Rouge Volupte and Rouge Volupte Shine). It’s pretty thick and doesn’t really “set” so I apply it right after foundation then let it sit while I do my eye makeup. Then I’ll slowly blend it in with my finger then let it sit for a few minutes more before applying lipstick. I don’t notice much of a plumping effect but it makes those light/sheer lipsticks much more vibrant and they last so much longer (nearly all day versus a couple of hours). I don’t know how my lips survived without this!
My March beauty favorites are all current staples for me. I love how the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer feels light on my face and blends easily. The subtle highlighting effect is also really nice. The Essie Lovie Dovie nail polish continues to be one of my favorites, I wish they would release it again so I could use it all the time! I’m also really happy I finally figured out how to use the Stila Lush Lips Water Plumping Primer, it works so well with my favorite lipstick formulas. I love how it makes the colors more intense and I don’t have to reapply my lipstick nearly as much.
What were your March beauty favorites?
