Every now and then I end up with a bunch of beauty products that just don’t quite work for me. Whether they are samples I’ve received or items I’ve purchased that aren’t my favorite, it’s hard for me to throw them out. I prefer to find ways to make them wearable, even if it involves a little extra effort on my part. I like to turn it into a challenge- how quickly can I use up a bunch of products that I don’t really like? Lately I’ve been on one of those kicks and I’ve been trying to destash a bit and get rid of some things. My March Beauty Favorites were all super helpful in turning some not-so-great products into things that I actually like to wear. This month, I’ve been using a lot of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smokeout, the Benefit They’re Real Remover, and The Face Shop’s Lovely Me:Ex Make Up Base in Violet.
So the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smokeout hasn’t exactly been helpful for using up other products but it has definitely been a lifesaver for me this month. I love pencil eyeliners but I’m so bad about sharpening them. I have so many colors that I regularly use so when one of them gets dull, I just put it in a different spot and use something else. Unfortunately, my to-sharpen pile is now much bigger than my to-wear pile. I’ve been craving neutral eyeliners lately and Smokeout is about the only one I have left in working condition. I’ve fallen in love with this deep, matte brown and I’ve actually sharpened it a few times just so I can keep wearing it (but I’m still not ready to sharpen anything else!). It’s such a pretty dark brown that works really well with just about any eye look.
I usually prefer a facial cleanser that removes makeup instead of a cleanser and separate makeup remover but sometimes mascara is so stubborn that I don’t have another choice but to use one. I finished the Blinc Mascara from last month’s beauty favorites and I’ve been working my way through the rest of my mascara samples. Right now I’m using one that is nearly impossible to clean off with face wash so I’ve been using Benefit’s They’re Real Remover every night and naturally it made my list of March beauty favorites. This eye makeup remover is really nice because it doesn’t irritate my eyes at all but it still removes even the toughest waterproof mascara. It starts off as a cream that you rub into your dry eyelashes. This makes a huge mess on my face during the first step but once the cream is all rubbed into my lashes I rinse it with water. Everything rinses away so easily and like I said, I love that it doesn’t irritate my eyes!
Colored primers and concealers seem to be all the rage right now but they originally made a big splash in Korean beauty products. The Face Shop’s Lovely Me:Ex Make Up Base in Violet was a product I bought awhile ago but it didn’t consistently get a lot of use until this month. Violet is designed to brighten dull looking skin and I bought it to help balance out some of the yellow in my skin. This is supposed to be worn as a base under makeup but it is far too light for even me to wear. I tried it a few times and then gave up until this month. I’ve been trying to use up a bunch of foundation samples. Most of them seem a bit too yellow for me so I’ve been mixing a bit of this in with the foundation before I apply it. It’s been working really well. It gives my foundation a more neutral tone and definitely helps brighten my face. I’m so glad I found a way to use The Face Shop’s Lovely Me:Ex Make Up Base and I love how it’s been helping me use up old foundations as well.
I’ve been really happy with my March beauty favorites. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smokeout is a great neutral dark brown. I love the matte finish and the color is so pretty. The Benefit It’s Real Remover is perfect for removing even the most stubborn waterproof mascaras and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. The Face Shop’s Lovely Me:Ex Make Up Base in Violet is perfect for mixing with yellow foundations to help neutralize them and brighten my face.
