This month, I was all about skincare. I played around a lot with my makeup and never really settled on any specific products to stick with all month long. Instead, I fell back in love with my all-time favorite moisturizer, added sun care as its own step in my routine, and was pleasantly surprised by an eyeliner. When the month was finally over, I was left with three May beauty favorites: Perricone MD’s Face Finishing Moisturizer, Ole Henriksen’s Protect the Truth Vitamin C Sunscreen, and Urban Decay’s Naked Basics 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil.
I absolutely love Perricone MD’s Face Finishing Moisturizer. It really works well for me and I would buy it by the gallon if I could. Lately I’ve been trying to use up all of my moisturizer samples so this one hasn’t been getting much use. But for May I pulled it back out and I couldn’t believe I’d been using anything else. This rose-scented moisturizer fells thick without being sticky, but it’s light on the face. It really gives my skin a good amount of moisture and I love how it feels on. It doesn’t change my skin drastically, rather it just stops me from having bad skin days. I love how bright and fresh my skin looks when I use this. It’s a little pricey compared to other moisturizers, but I love it so much that it’s worth every penny to me. Perricone’s Face Finishing Moisturizer is $69 for 2 oz here.
I am really big on using sunscreen… when I’m going to be outside a lot. When it comes to everyday sunscreen use, I know I should be wearing it but I tend to skip that step in my routine. I do use foundation with SPF, but I know that’s not even close to giving my skin the coverage it needs. For May I decided to actually incorporate sunscreen into my daily routine. I had a sample of Ole Henriksen’s Protect the Truth Vitamin C Sunscreen so I started with that. In addition to having an SPF of 50 (perfect for my fair skin), it also smells like oranges! I think this is a little thick for my face, but I like knowing I’m protecting my skin and the smell is pretty great. Ole Henriksen’s Protect the Truth Vitamin C Sunscreen is $35 for 1.7 oz here.
My third favorite for May was Urban Decay’s Naked Basics 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil. I’ve had this eyeliner for awhile but I started using it a lot in May. This pencil contains two different colors: Venus, a soft, off-white shimmer, and Crave, a deep, dark brown/black matte. I originally bought this pencil for Venus as I thought it would be a perfect highlight color, but I ended up loving Crave and using it all throughout May. Venus is a very pretty and subtle highlight color but Crave is a gorgeous everyday color. It’s less harsh than black but darker than most browns. I love how soft it looks while still completing a look really well. Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Eye Pencil is $16 here.
