Sephora has been releasing a lot of sampler kits under their Sephora Favorites line. They are pretty good values if you like a few of the items or want to try different products out. I’ve bought a few of the sets over the years (including their Give Me Some Lip set that I reviewed here) but one of my favorites is their custom skincare sampler. Every January, Sephora has a promo where you receive double Beauty Insider points on skincare purchases and around the same time, they release a SiJCP Customized Skincare Set. The set is exclusive to Sephora inside JC Penney, and it is an awesome deal. For only $29, you get to pick five deluxe skincare samples (and for the most part they are high-value samples). I love this promo because it’s a great way to try different skincare products or stock up on your favorites, and you can save quite a bit of money.
I was really happy to see the GlamGlow ThirstyMud as a choice for this set. I had been wanting to purchase the smaller .5 oz jar for $19, but I figured for $10 more I could grab this kit and get a lot more for my money. ThirstyMud is a treatment that can be used as a wash-off mask or as a deep moisturizer while you sleep. I prefer to use it overnight because it really hydrates my skin that way. And it smells amazing! This has a honey scent to it. ThirstyMud is perfect for winter when my skin dries out. The size in this set is also .5 oz, but I like that it comes in a tube instead of a jar so it won’t dry out. I picked up three of these for a total value of $57.
GlamGlow’s PowerMud Dual Cleanse Treatment is another option for this set. I’ve really liked the GlamGlow products I’ve tried, so I wanted to check this out. This is a weekly or twice-weekly deep cleanser. It starts off as a mud that you put on as a mask. As you rinse it off, it turns into an oil cleanser. I haven’t had the best of luck with oil cleansers on my skin, but I’m anxious to try this mask/ cleanser hybrid. PowerMud is currently only available in a large jar, but based on the prices of GlamGlow’s other products, this .5 oz tube would be worth $19.
I wasn’t quite sure what item I should choose for my final product. The salesgirl suggested I try Peter Thomas Roth’s Retinol Fusion PM because it has a pretty good value. It is a retinol serum that you use at night to improve skintone and texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I like the idea of this product and can’t wait to try it. Based on the price of the full-sized product, this .4 oz one is worth $26.
The set also includes a black makeup bag. Unlike most promo bags, this one is a big enough size to be useful and is also sturdy enough to be used everyday. I prefer the look of last year’s bag (a black and white bag), but this one has a better shape.
I am really happy with my SiJCP Customized Skincare Set and am considering grabbing a second one. For only $29, I got five deluxe samples worth $102, plus a nice makeup bag. This set is a great way to try new products or stock up on some favorites. I love that SiJCP releases these bags every year and I wish they did more (I also wish they were available at regular Sephoras).
Have you bought any skincare items for 2x Sephora points?
