I’m always on the hunt for a good fashion deal. I can’t help it, I love clothes (especially fancy ones like this Vera Wang tunic) but I don’t love paying for them. Who does? So I shop the sales and spend a lot of time online window shopping for items before I decide which ones to buy. I like to make sure something is worth the investment before I buy it, although I definitely make spontaneous purchases every now and then. I usually buy my designer pieces at discounts from Gilt but I’ve recently discovered TheRealReal and now I’m addicted!
I have a confession to make. A few weeks ago I was at work and realized I was wearing two different shoes! I have a pile of flats that I just grab from each morning and I picked two different styles that day. And they weren’t even close, one was gray suede and one was black leather. Talk about embarrassing. Luckily, no one noticed and I was able to pop over to Target to get some matching shoes. I found these quilted black flats with ankle straps and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since, so I guess it all worked out in the end (but now I’m much more aware of what shoes I leave the house in!). I’ve been wearing them all the time and a few days ago I thought they would look great with the sequins and stripes on this dress, dark jeans, and a black blazer for a casual, put-together look.
Peplums are one of those things that I either love or hate. I usually love them on other people or on the hanger but they often hit me at weird spots. When I saw this leather peplum top with its scalloped hem and cutouts I decided to take my chances. Luckily, it worked out and I ended up with a fun top for cooler weather. I really like peplums when they’re paired with either pencil skirts for a more streamlined look or fuller skirts that really play up the volume of the peplum. When I wore this top recently, I opted for the latter with a sweater underneath to keep me warm.
A couple of weeks ago, I was asked if I would like to feature some of French Connection’s new pieces on our site. I’m actually a fan of the brand’s fun, easy pieces so of course I jumped at the chance! The problem? How to decide what to get! I love French Connection’s kind-of-dressy-with-an-easy-fit pieces and their coats are to die for. They make so many classic clothes with fun twists and it’s super easy to see how everything would fit with the rest of the clothes in my closet. After spending a few days looking at everything on their website, I finally narrowed it down to the Railroad Stars Dress, the Polly Raw Edge Top, and the Leather Tube Necklace.
