Highlighters are one of those products that I don’t use every day but when I do I notice a big difference in my look. I tend to skip it when I run out of time but I love how a few carefully placed swipes of highlighter can add such a pretty glow. I really like to mix liquid highlighters into my foundation for a lit-from-within glow but when I want a more noticeable highlight, I always go for powders. I recently picked up the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Highlighter in Stunner as part of a Sephora promo and I’m so glad I did. It’s definitely a little flashier than most of the highlighters I’ve used but I’m having a lot of fun with it.
I love BECCA highlighters and I’m always waiting for the brand to release new ones so I can try them! The BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Prismatic Amethyst is their latest limited-edition shade and I couldn’t wait to check it out. Prismatic Amethyst is the newest shade in a sea of unusually colored highlighters that have been popping up recently. This is described as a lavender duo-chrome with a holographic effect to it. Initially I was unsure if this highlighter would work for me as I’m pretty warm-toned and this looked really cool and light but once I tried it on at the store, I had to have it. It’s so pretty and a lot more subtle than I was expecting.
By now, my obsession with BECCA highlighters should be pretty obvious. I’ve written about their Shimmering Skin Perfectors a few times (here, here, and here) and I’ve also branched out into their Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (here) as well as other products in their lineup (here). I love all of the different shades and formulas of highlighters they have to choose from and I have yet to try one that I didn’t like. The latest one I’ve picked up is BECCA Champagne Pop, a limited edition version of their powder Shimmering Skin Perfectors.
BECCA is a brand that I have fallen in love with over the past year. I’ve received several samples of their products and have purchased a few of their highlighters and I’m always impressed with the quality. I’m now addicted to their Shimmering Skin Perfectors (I love the liquid ones but the Pressed versions are also nice) and I’m slowly starting to get into their other products. Unfortunately, the brand is a little pricey but I’ve been able to find travel sizes of some products and mini sets that allow me to try things without spending too much. My latest purchase is a new set exclusive to Ulta: the BECCA Radiant Glow Collection.
A couple of weeks ago, Sephora had a promo code for deluxe samples of BECCA Opal highlighters. There were three choices of the Shimmering Skin Perfector formulas: liquid, pressed, and poured, all in their best-selling shade Opal. I’m a big fan of BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors but I had only ever tried the liquid formula (and I’ve actually got quite a few samples of Opal in my stash). I decided to go with the pressed formula and now that the promo is sold out I really wish I tried the poured version as well.
For July I’ve been all about simple dewy makeup with bright lips. It has been so hot that I don’t want to apply too much makeup and instead prefer a fresher, cleaner look. I’ve been layering lots of light, creamy products and forgoing powders and dark colors. I love shimmery, glowy looks with pops of color for the height of summer. I’ve been using a lot of tinted moisturizer, cream blushes, and waterproof mascara but my three July beauty favorites were Stila’s Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Metallic Peach, Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupte Shine in Coral Incandescent, and BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal.
