Paris, Day One: The Eiffel Tower

12 paris day one trocadero and eiffel towerWhat could be better than a spur of the moment trip to Paris? I have always wanted to go to Paris. Growing up, it seemed like such a beautiful city full of glamorous people doing glamorous things. I couldn’t imagine a place much more different than the Phoenix desert. I watched all of the French movies (A Very Long Engagement is one of my favorite movies ever), listened to French music, and took French classes in high school and college. But I never visited! C’est la vie.

Fast forward to this spring. G and I had some vacation time at the end of April and we originally planned on going to London. We had the perfect itinerary planned and were so excited… until the flights filled up! So naturally our only option was to go to Paris instead (quelle horreur!). It was a little crazy- I only had a few days to plan the trip and we ended up booking an Airbnb while sitting on the plane! But we made it and spent five amazing days in the City of Lights.

Light Pink Wrap Coat

ootd pink waterfall coat olive topSo… it’s not exactly coat weather in Phoenix right now. But, I have been searching for a pink coat for a long time with no success so I’m totally justified in getting this pink wrap coat now, right? Plus, I’ve got a vacation coming up, what if I visit someplace cold? I totally need this right now. In all honesty, I probably don’t but can you blame me for getting it? I love the shape and it’s the perfect spring coat- if you actually need one. And if you’re on the fence- just wait until you see the price!

Star Print Dress

hm star print dressThere are a few things I can never say no to while shopping (like black and white stripes and pops of bright pink). Fun prints are pretty near the top of the list (see examples here and here) and if it’s a great star print, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be going home with me. This dress checked off quite a few boxes when I saw it- star print, long sleeves, and appropriate for work. Check, check, and check. And since I found it at H&M, the price was right too. I mean, how could I resist?

Pattern Play / Striped Blazer and Printed Dress

Pattern Play- Striped SheIn Blazer and Printed HM Dress with RuffleWhen it comes to fashion, there are definitely certain colors that I gravitate to over and over again (black and pink immediately come to mind). One color I typically hate wearing though is navy. It’s just so boring and plain and I hate how it feels like it’s draining my energy throughout the day. Surprisingly, I was instantly drawn to this dress on the rack. I think it’s the print- it breaks up the dark color and adds a little interest to the dress. When I received this navy and white striped blazer, I had to pair it with this printed dress. I love the pattern play and the stripes and print add enough interest to make even the dullest color fun to wear.

Brown Polka Dot Dress

Brown Polka Dot Dress, Skinny Jeans, and Ballet FlatsI’ll admit, I have a lot of clothes. Clothing is one of my favorite things to buy and my closet and dresser are both overflowing. For the most part though, I get a lot of use out of everything and tend to wear pieces for years and years until they are threadbare or totally out of style. There are definitely some basics that I reach for over and over again but most of my favorites are unique pieces that have a story behind them. I love buying clothing or jewelry as a souvenir when traveling or to wear for a special occasion and it’s so fun thinking of that trip or event when I wear it. Take this brown polka dot dress for example. I bought this when I went to New York City for the first time about 10 years ago and I still think of that trip every time I put it on.
