This Shoshanna print dress is one of my favorite dresses to wear because it has so many different styling options! The print contains so many colors (blacks, browns, blues, pinks, yellows, greens) that you would think it would be difficult to find things to match but it’s actually the opposite. It’s so easy to add different layers and accessories and I’ve found that as long as I pair this dress with colors that are in the print, it works. I’ve worn it with lots of black or brown for an outfit that really lets the print stand out but typically I wear it with a little bit of everything. I just think it’s more fun! I wear this dress a lot in the fall and winter as it’s perfect for layers but it also works on its own with just a light sweater if it’s warmer out.
Similar to my January favorites, my February beauty favorites were less about color and more about maintenance. February was pretty warm for us but my skin and hair is still feeling the effects of winter (and my hair had a mini flip out after I tried some new products that left it super dry). I ended up spending most of the month trying to get my hair back to its normal healthy state and fighting winter’s drying effects on my skin and hair. My February beauty favorites ended up being the Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics, the HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Hair Oil, and the Julep Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub.
We’ve been going through a warm spell lately which I absolutely love. It has been in the mid-80s and so nice, I’ve been able to ditch my tights and boots and break out my tees and ballet flats. I have a feeling it won’t last forever though and I’m sure we’ll have another cold spell soon. Luckily, I have my favorite cozy sweater on hand so I’ll be prepared. I got this sweater several years ago and I love it. It’s got ribbed sides that give it a little extra texture and it’s lined with fleece. Seriously, it’s so cozy and warm on the inside but still looks chic and slim on the outside. I love the cowl neckline that can also be worn off-the-shoulder (although if I did that, my shoulders would be freezing!).
Bright blue and black is one of my favorite combinations for winter. Black is so easy to layer and pops of bright cobalt blue make for a fun look. I love how sophisticated and dressy the two colors look together. This Cynthia Steffe dress was the first nice work dress I bought and it’s been one of my best purchases. I love the fun swirly blue print and the pleated details. I really like the slimming illusion with the print in the middle of the dress and black on the sides and the black waistband replaces a belt to create a more finished look. This is one of those dresses that is super easy to transition from work to a night out.
I love pink. Love it, love it, love it. Pink was my favorite color growing up and then I went through a few years where I wouldn’t be caught dead saying I liked it. But now I love it again. I consider bright pink to be my signature lip color, light pink to be my go-to nail polish color, and I love sneaking any kind of pink into my black and gray winter wardrobe. Needless to say, Valentine’s Day fashion is super easy for me.
I like a little predictability with my fashion brands. There’s nothing worse than finding a new favorite brand because you love their entire collection only to have the next one be a complete bust. Or finding the best basics only to have a brand stop making them. I like being able to count on finding certain items whenever I want them. One of my favorite releases that happens every year is J. Crew’s neon sweaters. They always have an entire collection of bright knits and I’m always drawn to the neon pink sweaters and cardigans. Luckily they’re in slightly different hues than the year before so I have an excuse to buy more!
