I am so ready for spring! Lately all I’ve been wanting to wear are lighter, brighter colors and I keep thinking that I really need a denim jacket to layer over spring florals. While we aren’t quite there yet, it’s been feeling like spring in AZ. I took full advantage of the warmer weather and decided to dress in spring pastels today. I love how crisp white jeans look and I’ve been waiting all winter to wear these! When I got this nude top with rose gold sequins, I knew it would be perfect to pair with these jeans. I added some gold and blush accents and ended up with what I think is a pretty cute spring-like outfit.
It’s funny how there are certain articles of clothing we are drawn to over and over again. For me, it’s always a good tunic top. I think it stems from growing up, when I was super tall but living in a world of low-rise jeans- it was impossible to find a top that was long enough. Now I love them to be as long as possible and frequently wear mini dresses as tops (mostly because, again- really tall). This gray draped tunic is perfect. It has plenty of length and it also happens to be super comfortable and versatile.
I definitely experienced a range of weather when I visited Stacie in Nashville a couple of weeks ago. There were a couple of what I would consider normal spring days, a couple of really warm (90 degrees or so) days and then a big storm rolled in and we were back to our winter coats. When the weather is really finicky like that I like to rely on light spring layers. We did a lot of exploring while I was there and it was easy to throw on a few layers in the morning and remove them if the day warmed up. One of my favorite things we did was visit Nashville’s Bicentennial Mall, where we ran into all of these pretty trees!
I just got back from visiting Stacie in Nashville and we had so much fun! I was there for a week and our days were jam-packed but it still feels like I need to go back soon because there were so many other things we didn’t get to do! Nashville is pretty easy to visit because it’s so small so it’s super easy to get around. I swear, every time we went anywhere it only took about 15 minutes. We circled the city a few times each day and ate a ridiculous amount of food. I also loved looking at all of the colorful murals around the city and I couldn’t resist using them to showcase some of my new clothes from thredUP, an online consignment shop. You’ll hear a lot more about my trip over the next few weeks, so keep checking back!
Since New Year’s Eve is tomorrow, I wanted to share some outfit inspiration for any parties you may be attending. New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite holidays to dress for because it requires so many sequins, crystals, and glitter- you can never have too much! It is a bit tricky to dress for though since cooler weather calls for lots of layers. I usually like to pick one statement piece and then wear dark, neutral layering pieces with it. This outfit is the perfect example. I get plenty of New Year’s Eve sparkle with my sequined top and then keep it simple with black jeans and a black jacket. The layers help me stay warm and the dark colors also make the silver sequins really pop!
I have a confession to make. A few weeks ago I was at work and realized I was wearing two different shoes! I have a pile of flats that I just grab from each morning and I picked two different styles that day. And they weren’t even close, one was gray suede and one was black leather. Talk about embarrassing. Luckily, no one noticed and I was able to pop over to Target to get some matching shoes. I found these quilted black flats with ankle straps and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since, so I guess it all worked out in the end (but now I’m much more aware of what shoes I leave the house in!). I’ve been wearing them all the time and a few days ago I thought they would look great with the sequins and stripes on this dress, dark jeans, and a black blazer for a casual, put-together look.
