Orange lipsticks can be intimidating to get into. Orange isn’t a traditional lipstick color but it’s been very “in” in the last few years. It’s a great bold color that can replace red as a statement color but it can also be soft and natural. Orange is a really fun color to wear but it does take some getting used to and there is definitely some trial-and-error involved in finding the perfect color. I typically think of my lipstick stash as 90% pink with a few berries, a handful of nudes, and a couple oranges thrown in but I was surprised by just how many orange lipsticks I pulled out when I wrote this post. Turns out, I own a lot of oranges! Today I’m swatching several different shades, just in time for Halloween.
Every year around the holidays, Sephora releases a lip set full of minis and full-sized products. It’s part of their Sephora Favorites collection which also includes skincare, eyeliner, perfume, and hair sets. They are all a great way to try new products and discover new brands for a great package price. I’ve bought a couple of the mixed makeup and smaller sets before and I’ve always thought about getting the big lip kit. This year I finally took the plunge and purchased Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip, which includes 15 products.
BECCA is a brand that I have fallen in love with over the past year. I’ve received several samples of their products and have purchased a few of their highlighters and I’m always impressed with the quality. I’m now addicted to their Shimmering Skin Perfectors (I love the liquid ones but the Pressed versions are also nice) and I’m slowly starting to get into their other products. Unfortunately, the brand is a little pricey but I’ve been able to find travel sizes of some products and mini sets that allow me to try things without spending too much. My latest purchase is a new set exclusive to Ulta: the BECCA Radiant Glow Collection.
Bite Beauty recently partnered with Sephora on three new limited edition lipsticks and matching 250 point perks. Starting this month, Sephora is releasing a new point perk each month until October. They contain a mini lipstick, lipgloss, and matching button mirror, all in a color that matches Bite’s limited edition lipstick for that month. August’s color is a bright pink, so naturally I had to have it (September is a red shade and October is rumored to be a dark berry). For 250 points, I received two versions of Bite Bellini, plus a cute matching mirror.
I’m not a huge lipgloss person. For the most part, I find them to be sticky and thick, and I hate when my hair gets stuck to my lips. There are a few exceptions though, like the Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss. I love this stuff. Designed as part of their Naked line of products, this gloss is light and moisturizing, and not at all sticky. These aren’t highly pigmented, opaque glosses, they are sheer and supposed to look, well, naked, on the lips. They come in a variety of colors so you can create your perfect “naked” look. The packaging is nice but difficult to photograph. These glosses come in rose gold tubes with cutouts on the side and bottom so you can see what the color is.
