Paris, Day Four: Musée d’Orsay and the Île de la Cité

35 paris day four coffeeDay four in Paris was probably my favorite of our entire trip. We still managed to do a ton of stuff but it felt a lot more relaxing after the previous couple of days. I think it helped that we didn’t travel across the city as much and the places we visited weren’t as overwhelming as say, the Louvre. Our visits at each stop were much shorter and it seemed like a bit of a lazy day, even though it wasn’t at all. We began the day with a quick coffee stop before taking the metro to the Musée D’Orsay.

Watercolor Dress

For the most part, I tend to stick with solids for my clothes but when I find a really fun print, I can’t resist buying it. Pretty colors always draw me in, which was the case for this watercolor dress. I loved the swirls of blue, pink, and purple and I’d been eyeing it for months. I finally pulled the trigger after our Paris vacation- the print reminded me of all of the impressionist paintings we saw on our trip. As such, I’ve affectionately named this my “Monet dress” and it makes me happy every time I wear it.

Periwinkle Dress

periwinkle chiffon dressEvery now and then, you find the perfect dress. Something that you never get sick of, something that is always fun to wear, and something that works for almost any occasion. This periwinkle dress checks all the boxes for me. It’s several years old but I still love to wear it and it’s one of the easiest pieces in my closet. All I have to do is throw it on and go, but I still love adding fun accessories so it doesn’t look like the same outfit every time. It’s perfect for work but the light fabric is also great for parties or as a dressier look while traveling. What could be better than that?

Paris, Day One: The Eiffel Tower

12 paris day one trocadero and eiffel towerWhat could be better than a spur of the moment trip to Paris? I have always wanted to go to Paris. Growing up, it seemed like such a beautiful city full of glamorous people doing glamorous things. I couldn’t imagine a place much more different than the Phoenix desert. I watched all of the French movies (A Very Long Engagement is one of my favorite movies ever), listened to French music, and took French classes in high school and college. But I never visited! C’est la vie.

Fast forward to this spring. G and I had some vacation time at the end of April and we originally planned on going to London. We had the perfect itinerary planned and were so excited… until the flights filled up! So naturally our only option was to go to Paris instead (quelle horreur!). It was a little crazy- I only had a few days to plan the trip and we ended up booking an Airbnb while sitting on the plane! But we made it and spent five amazing days in the City of Lights.

One Dress, Three Ways

One Dress, Three WaysI’ll admit, I have a lot of clothes. I can’t help it, I just love fashion and finding new things to wear. I love trying fun new trends but for the most part, I gravitate toward simpler pieces that can be worn in a lot of different ways. One of my favorite things to buy are little black dresses, especially little black t-shirt dresses. I love their versatility and how comfy they are! They’re so easy to dress up or down and they seem to work for almost every occasion. I’ve got quite a few already and my latest find is this tiered version that even has pockets. It’s been on constant rotation in my closet and I thought it would make a fun post if I showed you some of the different ways I’ve been wearing it. So here it is: one dress, three ways.

Split Side Ruffle Sweater

ootd split side ruffle sweaterI have been loving the warm weather lately! It’s been so nice and I love how bright green our neighborhood is. It’s been perfect for walking around and looking at the new blooms everywhere. I’ve been wearing a lot of light layers and simple sweaters with shorts like with this outfit. There’s something so nice about a light, soft sweater with shorts and fancy sneakers, don’t you think?
