I have mixed feelings about subscription boxes. I love the idea of trying new products and it’s so fun to get a surprise package in the mail every month but I feel like with most boxes I end up wishing I had just spent the money on something I actually wanted instead. Play! by Sephora is a little different though. When it was first announced I added myself to the waitlist but was never able to get off of it until now. I buy most of my makeup from Sephora and I love their deluxe samples and promo codes so I figured I’d be pretty happy with whatever I got in my box. For $10 a month (plus a little tax if you live in a state with a Sephora store), you get five deluxe samples and a fragrance sample, all in a cute little makeup bag. And the $10 gives you Beauty Insider points and counts towards your dollars spent each year, meaning it’s easier to become a VIB or VIB Rouge. The Play! by Sephora April box was my first order, and I was so excited to see what was inside.
Highlighters are one of those products that I don’t use every day but when I do I notice a big difference in my look. I tend to skip it when I run out of time but I love how a few carefully placed swipes of highlighter can add such a pretty glow. I really like to mix liquid highlighters into my foundation for a lit-from-within glow but when I want a more noticeable highlight, I always go for powders. I recently picked up the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Highlighter in Stunner as part of a Sephora promo and I’m so glad I did. It’s definitely a little flashier than most of the highlighters I’ve used but I’m having a lot of fun with it.
I wanted to post about the Formula X The System XCEL because it has drastically changed my manicures and it’s on sale right now! I love this system and all of the Formula X polishes that I’ve tried but unfortunately Sephora is discontinuing their collaboration. The good news? Everything is on sale so it’s a great time to stock up on these wonderful products! I’ve posted about the Formula X The System before but today I’m reviewing the Formula X The System XCEL which seems about the same to me but is designed to give your polish a gel quality. I’m also going to talk about the Formula X Delete All nail polish remover, another product that has totally changed how I do my nails.
Every year around this time, Sephora release a 500-point perk mini palette from Urban Decay, and every year I have to have it (2014 palette, 2015 palette). In fact, it’s gotten to the point where I will pass on perks I want throughout the year because I need to save my points for this one! I love these little palettes and this year’s version, the Urban Decay Urban Addictions Palette, is no exception.
It has been uncharacteristically rainy here all week. Typically it rains for a while here and then stops but this week has been nothing but rain with a few breaks in between. It’s the kind of weather that makes me want to pull out cozy sweaters and drink hot chocolate, which is exactly what I’ve been doing. Usually I wouldn’t be this happy about the rain but it’s given me a chance to use my cute striped umbrella!
Last year, Sephora released a 500-point perk from Urban Decay. It was a super cute mini palette called Urban Obsessions that contained four shadows, a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, and a sample of their Primer Potion. It was easily one of my favorite point perks from Sephora and I’m so happy I picked it up. I’ve been using it all year (it even made my monthly beauty favorites in February) and I recently hit pan on one of the shadows. I was so excited to see another 500-point perk this year, the Urban Decay Urban Vices mini eyeshadow palette, and I immediately grabbed it.
