I know I’m super late to the party but I recently discovered the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks and I’m in love. I was hesitant to try them at first because the name made it sound like they would be goopy and messy. I mean, a melted lipstick? I had visions of it bleeding outside my lips and feeling super sticky. Luckily, that’s not the case with these at all. Really, they are just liquid lipsticks and I like the formula so much that I’ve been collecting every mini I can get my hands on. So far, I’ve tried Melted Nude, Melted Berry, and Melted Peony.
I’m not a big fan of a lot of liquid lipsticks because I find them difficult to apply. Usually they include doe foot applicators that are hard to control and not very precise. Plus, it’s hard to control how much lipstick gets on the applicator. The applicator on these lipsticks solves all of those problems. You squeeze the tube to get lipstick out so it’s very easy to control how much comes out. The precise tip applicator makes it super easy to get lipstick exactly where you want it. You can’t really get a hard edge with this applicator but I prefer a lip look with softer edges.
Too Faced Melted Nude is described as a neutral nude shade. Nudes can be tricky on me because a lot of times they pull super brown and this one does look pretty brown in stock photos. Fortunately it’s not like that in real life. It’s more of a beige-nude than a brown-nude and I think this would only work with lighter skin tones.
It pulls a little warmer on me and while you can see quite a bit of difference between the lipstick and my skin tone in this photo, in person it really washes me out. This isn’t bad but it definitely makes my lips disappear so I have to make sure I’m wearing a lot of color on the rest of my face in order to pull this off. The formula is pretty nice but I haven’t worn this shade very much so I can’t tell you how it wears throughout the day.
Melted Berry is described as a berry red. I don’t see much red in this color, it’s more of a deep pink berry. I was really impressed with this color. It’s a gorgeous berry shade that’s perfect for cooler weather and I have worn it so many times since I got it!
Melted Berry really makes an impact and I love how it brightens my whole face! This formula is fantastic, it’s thinner than the lighter colors but it’s not watery. It lasts for quite a while on me and it doesn’t make my lips feel dry or like I need to apply lip balm. This is definitely my favorite out of the colors I own so far.
Melted Peony was a color that I received in Sephora’s Give Me More Lip Set. This is the shade that Too Faced uses for all of their promos and GWPs so if you own a Melted Lipstick, it’s probably this one. This is described as a dusty rose but I think it’s lighter and a touch more pink than that.
I really like the color of Melted Peony but the formula isn’t the greatest. I can’t believe this is the one Too Faced uses to promote their Melted Lipsticks when there are so many better ones to choose from! Peony is a little thick and it tends to crease and build up on the inner edges of my lips. This is definitely a high maintenance color, if I wear it I have to constantly check and see how it looks.
For the most part, I’m really happy with the performance of the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. I love the applicator and the formulas are really nice although they do vary a bit. In my experience, the darker colors have thinner formulas and the lighter colors are a bit thicker. Nude and Peony are wearable and I love love love Melted Berry. If you only get one of these, definitely grab that one! The Too Faced Melted Lipsticks are $21 and they have a couple of holiday sets with various minis, which are a great way to test out the formula in a bunch of different colors.
