Urban Decay Urban Vices Palette

urban_vices2Last year, Sephora released a 500-point perk from Urban Decay. It was a super cute mini palette called Urban Obsessions that contained four shadows, a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, and a sample of their Primer Potion. It was easily one of my favorite point perks from Sephora and I’m so happy I picked it up. I’ve been using it all year (it even made my monthly beauty favorites in February) and I recently hit pan on one of the shadows. I was so excited to see another 500-point perk this year, the Urban Decay Urban Vices mini eyeshadow palette, and I immediately grabbed it.

urban_vicesThe Urban Decay Urban Vices palette is the same style as last year’s perk: four shadows, a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, and a Primer Potion sample. I was happy to see that the colors were similar to last year but different enough that I could justify picking up this perk. I love the sturdy case this comes in. The top has a magnetic closure and the palette is small enough that it’s perfect for travel (it’s roughly the length of my hand).

urban_vices5Urban Vices includes four eyeshadow colors: Dope, Hoodoo, Derailed, and Smokeout, and a mini eyeliner in Smokeout. All of the colors are new to me but not to the Urban Decay Line. Dope, Derailed, and Smokeout are all from the Vice 2 palette and Hoodoo (not to be confused with Voodoo) is from Vice LTD. The Smokeout eyeliner is from Urban Decay’s Ten set. The Primer Potion sample is a tiny foil inside the top of the box, not really worth counting if you ask me and I’m pretty sure I never used the one from last year.

urban_vices6I love the range of colors in this palette. Dope is a pretty warm ivory highlight shade. It’s fairly light but I like how it pairs with the darker colors in this set and I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it. Hoodoo is a gorgeous medium purple shade. I’ve found that a lot of purples lean too pink for my liking or are more blue than I want. Hoodoo is the perfect purple shadow and I love the slight shimmer. Derailed is a brown-leaning taupe shimmer. This is another beautiful shade and I’m really glad it was included. Smokeout is a very dark brown satin. I initially thought this was another black shadow and I wasn’t happy about it so I was very pleased to find out it was a brown. It’s pretty dark but it’s definitely wearable for me. The Smokeout 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil is the same rich dark brown shade. I’m really happy with all of the colors in this palette. They have nice pigmentation and great formulas and they are all easy to wear.

Urban Obsessions, Urban Vices

The colors in this palette are similar to last year’s Urban Obsessions but they are different enough that I’m happy I own both point perks. Dope isn’t quite as yellow as Skimp, Derailed is darker and more shimmery than Bust, Hoodoo is a great purple that replaces last year’s pink Guilt (a shade that I absolutely loved), and Smokeout is a refreshing deep brown compared to the glittery black Oil Slick. The Smokeout eyeliner is also dark brown while Urban Obsessions included Zero, a black color.

urban_vices_vs_urban_obsessions1I loved last year’s perk but I think I might like Urban Vices even better. When I initially saw this year’s palette, I thought it would be a lot darker and less of an everyday palette but it’s actually the opposite. Dope is close enough to Skimp that I don’t have a preference for either. I loved Bust (you can see where I recently hit pan) but I think I will like the slightly darker and more shimmery Derailed better. Guilt was so pretty but Hoodoo is also really nice and I like purple shadows. I never wore Oil Slick so I will definitely get more use from Smokeout. I also never wore Zero as I’m not a fan of black pencil eyeliners but I love dark browns so Smokeout is useful for me.

urban_vices1I am so happy I picked up the Urban Decay Urban Vices mini eyeshadow palette from Sephora. I loved last years palette and I wish Sephora made more of these mini palettes with different brands. I love how the size is perfect for travel and it’s easy to create looks with the colors in the palette. I’m really excited about using Hoodoo and Derailed and the other colors are great also. The Urban Decay Urban Vices 500-point perk is currently out of stock online but you can see if your local store has it!

I like Urban Decay, but I wish they had more matte eyeshadows. I’m not crazy about the glitters because I didn’t think I look good in the flashy stuff. They’re always vibrant colors, though.

Just got it today with the Gwen Stefani spiderweb lipstick and rock steady liner. I always want a shadow palette, and of course I want it to be urban decay (love their stuff!) So I absolutely had to spend my points to get it. A friend showed me how to do a “doe eye” look but it was a more purple grey color to naked smokeys everyday smoky eye look. Shades are so pretty and first time I wore a purple eyeshadow. Would look good with some shades I have already in my naked smoky palette like smolder and whiskey.

I’m so glad you like it! I’ve been using it a lot lately and it’s so pretty! How do you like the Gwen Stefani lipstick? I think Firebird is gorgeous, I’m trying to keep myself from buying it!

I find the texture quite interesting. It looks very glossy and wet like most cream lipsticks but at the same time it isn’t and doesn’t bleed all over. It feels like a rubber shiny lip lacquer in stick form. Has anyone else thought the same? Like I try blending it out more with a lip brush but it won’t budge lol
