I’ve heard so many great things about airbrush makeup over the last several years but it always seemed so intimidating to me. Sure, it can apparently make you look like you walked out of a fashion magazine but isn’t it hard to use? I would love to look like I have perfect skin but I don’t want to make a huge mess all over my bathroom. It sounded expensive and time consuming in addition to being impossible for a normal person to use but I still liked the idea of a flawless finish. I was recently asked to review the Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup System and I have to admit, I was a little worried. I really wanted to try it out but would I even be able to use it well enough to write a decent review?
Similar to my January favorites, my February beauty favorites were less about color and more about maintenance. February was pretty warm for us but my skin and hair is still feeling the effects of winter (and my hair had a mini flip out after I tried some new products that left it super dry). I ended up spending most of the month trying to get my hair back to its normal healthy state and fighting winter’s drying effects on my skin and hair. My February beauty favorites ended up being the Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics, the HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Hair Oil, and the Julep Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub.
Blush is one of my makeup must-haves. I love how a little color can really brighten my face and make me look and feel more put together. I tend to stick to two color families for blush: peach and any shade of pink. Pale rose pink is usually my go-to but I also love bright pinks like the Milani Bella Rosa Baked Blush. Milani’s Baked Blushes are really nice and because they are a drugstore brand, they’re pretty inexpensive. These are sunbaked on Italian terracotta tiles which gives the blush a creamier texture and Bella Rosa uses a vegan formula.
I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes (probably more than I could ever use in a lifetime) but I’m always drawn to new ones. I’m not very partial to individual colors- I will use them on their own or to supplement a palette but I tend to use a palette every day. I prefer smaller ones with shades in the same color family as opposed to larger palettes with a variety of colors. It’s just easier in the morning to create a look by selecting a palette themed around a color family to work from instead of digging through individual packages to put color combinations together. My latest palette is the Catrice Rose Palette, and it’s quickly become one of my favorites.
This post is just a little late but I wanted to write about my December beauty favorites. December was an eclectic makeup month for me. I wore a lot of light, dewy makeup at the beginning of the month when we were on vacation and toward the end of the month I was all about glitter and shine for the holidays. I went through a lot of bright bold lip colors and I’ve been using up a lot of makeup and skincare samples instead of just sticking with my usual products. At the end of the month, three products really stood out to me: Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen, Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Junkie, and Urban Decay’s Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette.
When it comes to lipstick, I have to own almost every pink out there. I usually find myself sticking to the same few brands for the most part but I recently branched out and tried a brand for the first time. Shiseido is known for their luxury skincare but I don’t really hear much about their makeup. Despite not knowing much about it, I picked up one of their lipsticks, the Shiseido Perfect Rouge Fuchsia RS320.
